Smoking

Smoking has been recognised as the cause of more diseases than practically anything else humans have ever done. Every year millions of people round the world die from smoking related illnesses. These can be various sorts of cancer, or heart and/or lung diseases.

If you're a smoker, it's nicotine you crave and you can get hooked on it far too quickly. Nicotine was once used as a garden pesticide but it is so dangerous that it has now been banned. Makes you think!

On 14/2/06, the House of Commons voted to ban smoking in the vast majority of work places, including pubs and clubs, in England. For more information have a look at the BBC

Nobody can really stop you smoking, if fact, you can smoke at any age, in private, even though it is illegal to sell tobacco products to anyone under 18.

But have you thought about the cost? With cigarettes costing on average £5.40 per pack of 20 it begins to mount up. One pack a day works out at £37.80 per week and a staggering £1971 per year. Just think what you could do with that amount of money.

Do you want to give up?
