In trouble with the police and aged between 10 and 17?

If you are then you are likely to be dealt with by the Youth Offending Team (YOT) under the Youth Justice Board.

The aim of the Youth Justice system is to prevent you getting into crime and if you start behaving in an anti social manner or committing minor crimes to help you back to a more social way.

The YOT has a range of strategies that it uses to help you stay on the straight and narrow.

These include
  • Youth Inclusion Programme (YIP)

  • Positive Activities for Young People (PAYP)
  • This is known as the SPLASH programme and they also work with Connexions.

The Youth Justice Board website has the complete low-down on how the system works and the range of sanctions and sentences that can be used by the police and the courts.

Once you’ve read this lot you may want to think twice about getting into bother with the police.
