end up

Ever thought about having a year off doing something completely different?

Well maybe you can do this either once you have finished school before you go to Uni or College or once you've finished, before you settle down to buy the house and pay off your student loan.

Mind you there are other opportunities through schemes like VSO who want to take people who have skills to offer in developing countries. Why not try their website to see what's on offer.

If you're under 26 you'll find that travelling can be a lot cheaper than for those over 26 Check out www.statravel.co.uk This is an organisation which helps younger people with their travel arrangements.

If you are intending to go to New Zealand check out our pages about working and getting around here. If you want something bigger try our aus page.

You might not feel that just bumming around is not the right way to spend your year out and might want to do something more structured and productive. If that's the case have a look at some of this website, which is recommended by the DfES and UCAS, which has lots of contacts that may help to organise you're year out. www.yearoutgroup.org

Don't think you have to go off to the far flung reaches of the world to have a useful and productive year out because you don't. Community Service Volunteers offer a wide range opportunities here in the UK and now the government are even offering to pay you if you do voluntary work in the UK. See this article on the BBC site to find out more.

The BBCi has an amazing amount of information about gap years so check it out

If this isn't enough try out gap year listing for more info.
