Options at Y 10

From 11 to 14 you will be studying subjects set down in the National Curriculum but during yr 9 you’ll be asked to select your options for years 10 and 11.

No matter how boring you think they are there are some subjects you will have to take.

As well as these compulsory subjects there are optional subjects such as history, geography, music, art, there are also some vocational subjects that you can take as options. You might not always be able to get the options you want so be willing to compromise.

To make the best use of the options system it is often useful for you to have an idea of what you want to do with your life later on. By having a wide range of subjects at 16 you will find that you have not closed off any road you wish to go down.
