What to do if your car is clamped or towed:
Stay cool – there is a way out of this mess…
First – get your wheels back: do what it says on the note on the windscreen or phone the police if there’s no note.
If you’re driving to London put the TRACE service number on your mobile (020 7747 4747) so if your car gets towed you can find out who’s got it.
Even if you end up paying to get your car back, you can appeal afterwards. Keep any evidence in case you want to appeal. When you pay get a receipt (they have to give you one) and try to get the wheelclamper’s address and phone number.
If you want to challenge the clamping (if the signs were hard to read or put in stupid places) you can go through the Small Claims Court – contact your local CAB for advice.
