The Two Pound coin
The two-pound coin has the highest value out of all the coins that we use in the United Kingdom. It is easily recognised as having a silver disc, made from Copper and Nickel, surrounded by a golden outer ring, made from Copper, Nickel and Zinc. Around the outer edge of the coin is the inscription “Standing on the edge of giants”.

The One Pound coin
The one-pound coin is the second most valuable coin that we use in the United Kingdom. It is smaller than the two-pound coin, but its colour is the same as the outer ring of the two-pound coin. The one-pound coin is made from Copper, Nickel and Zinc. Over time, several designs have appeared on the coin. The one shown in the picture below has “Decus et Tutamen” written around the edge.

The Fifty pence coin
The fifty pence coin is the largest and most valuable of the silver coins. It is easily recognised, as it is a large, seven sided coin. The fifty pence coin is made from Copper and Nickel, and has a picture of Britannia on the reverse, but has no inscription around the edge.

The Twenty pence coin
The twenty pence coin is similar to the fifty pence in the sense that it is a seven-sided coin. It is somewhat smaller than the fifty pence, and has the Badge of England, the Tudor Rose, and a crown on the reverse. Made from Copper and Nickel, the twenty pence coin has a smooth edge with no inscription.

The Ten pence coin
The ten pence coin is the largest round silver coin. The picture found on the reverse of the coin shows a lion wearing a crown. It is made from Copper and Nickel, and has no inscription around the edge.

The Five pence coin
The five pence coin is the smallest coin that we use in the United Kingdom. The picture shown on the five-pence coin is the Badge of Scotland, a crowned thistle. It is similar to the ten pence coin in the sense that it is made from Copper and Nickel, and has no inscription around the edge.

The two pence coin is the largest of the copper coins. It is a round coin, printed with the Badge of the Prince of Wales on the reverse. Since 1992, the two pence coin has been made from copper coated steel, and has a smooth edge with no inscription on it.

Also known as the penny, Since 1992, the one pence coin has also been made from copper coated steel, and has a picture of a gate and chains with a crown above them. This coin also has a smooth edge with no inscription on it.
