If you have just landed a new job, CONGRATULATIONS…!
…But before you say “Bye-bye” to benefits, there is something you should know.
Your entitlement to benefits doesn’t necessarily stop as soon as your new job starts. This is an introduction to some of the benefits that may still be available to you, even after you start your new job.
(Of course, everyone’s circumstances will vary, so unfortunately there are no straightforward rules as to what you are entitled to, but this guide should help you to find out more information. This isn’t an exhaustive list though, and we recommend that you always seek further advice).
The benefit of Benefits.
If, as part of your new job, you need to buy any new clothes or equipment, you may be able to get a Budgeting loan from the Social Fund.

If you have previously been claiming Income Support or Job Seekers Allowance, and working for less than 16 hours a week in a part-time job, you may be able to get the Back to Work bonus.

If your new job means that you are going to be working for more than 16 hours a week, then you may be eligible to claim the Working Tax Credits.

If you have been claiming Housing Benefit and/or Council Tax Benefit to help with your housing costs, you may be eligible to have these benefits paid for up to four weeks after you start your new job.
