Are you a carer?

A carer is someone who provides help and support to a person who needs specific help due to frailty, sickness, or disability.

If this sounds like you, then this is a quick introduction to the various benefits that may be available to you.

(Of course, everyone’s circumstances will vary, so unfortunately there are no straightforward rules as to what you are entitled to, but this guide should help you to find out more information. This isn’t an exhaustive list though, and we recommend that you always seek further advice).


The benefit of Benefits.


If you are caring for someone for at least 35 hours a week, then you may be eligible to claim the Carers Allowance.

You may also be entitled to claim Income Support or Income-based Job Seekers Allowance.

If you need help with your housing costs, then you may be entitled to claim Housing Benefit and/or Council Tax Benefit.
