Benefits

Benefits.

Young people are in a very confusing position in terms of what financial support is available to them. Anyone under the age of 16 and unemployed will not be eligible to make a claim for benefits until they reach the age of 16.

The benefits that become available to those people aged between 16 and 18 will depend greatly on a myriad of eligibility criteria, ranging from whether or not you are in education and the type of education you are in, all the way to the economic circumstances of your family.

This section of the site will introduce you to the various benefits that may be available to you, the circumstances under which they become available to you, and the process involved of making an application to claim them.

(please note that everyone’s circumstances will vary, so unfortunately there are no straightforward rules as to what you are entitled to, and this guide is designed to help you to find out more information. This isn’t an exhaustive list though, and we recommend that you always seek further advice).

Either use the Navigation to find your way around, or click on one of the links below to read one of our featured articles, or on the link that best describes your personal circumstances.
